Firm, client, company
A company is a legal entity that files returns and owns bank accounts. It sits under a client. Client Settings → Companies is the register. The company switcher in the header sets scope for the page you are on; it is not a global period filter.
Common questions
That is expected. Opening balances, the chart, and bank accounts are per company. Use first-week setup on the new entity.
